Debbie, good to keep bringing this up as we've gotten so desensitized around this subject. Way back in 90's the New England Journal of Medicine published a study that showed it was not holding the phone, nor dialing that made it dangerous. What is so dangerous about using a cell phone when you drive according to this and other studies is that the person on the other end of the phone is not responding to traffic. They don't know to stop talking in a stressful lane change or to quit asking questions when the driver is being tailgated. And drivers have a hard time disengating their brain from the call--the brain is split between two worlds. Glad you reminded me of this as I can be bad and make a few calls here and there. I guess we all think we are the exception to these rules.

Important post, Debbie. While texting and driving never crossed my mind (my age, I guess), the temptation to talk and drive can sometimes be strong. Thanks for the reminder.
