  • All the Better to Serve You With!

Posted in Simply Placed News, What's Happening? on October 26th, 2011 by Debbie Rosemont | No Comments »

Our final new addition to the team this Fall is Cailin, our new Client Service and Marketing Assistant for Simply Placed.  If you remember our previous post, Simply Placed has been expanding the team!  Below is some information about our latest addition.

Cailin Shovkoplyas has a degree in Communication Journalism from the University of Washington and is also a certified technical writer.  She enjoys working with clients and being a resource to them.

Cailin loves providing people with whatever they may need to help bring balance into their home and work lives. She believes any goal can be achieved with a little enthusiasm and the willingness to embrace new habits.

She joined Simply Placed in 2011 as a client service and marketing assistant.  Cailin is often the first point of contact someone will have with Simply Placed and she’s perfectly suited for that role with her resourcefulness, professionalism, compassion and “can-do” attitude.

When she isn’t communication with clients, Cailin can be found cooking, baking and spending time with her husband.

Cailin can be reached by email at cailin@itssimplyplaced.com or by phone 206-579-5743 Ext. 702.

  • Simply Placed’s Newest Organizer…Kelly!

We mentioned in our previous post about our team expansion that we’ve added three new team members!  Below is some information about one of our two new professional organizers, Kelly Huffman.

As a busy wife, mother of three and active community volunteer, Kelly knows first hand the challenges and the importance of staying organized.  Her compassion and patience allows her to relate to clients to fully engage and meet their needs.

Kelly’s love of organizing was sparked early on.  As a child, she organized the bedrooms and closets of friends and helped her teachers organize their classrooms.  Over the years, she has transformed many spaces through organization.

Kelly wanted to become an organizer to exercise her natural talent for streamlining spaces, clearing clutter and stress from life and her desire to help individuals find peace through productivity. Her favorite thing about being an organizer is empowering clients to realize their own ability to take control of their environment and improve their quality of life.

Her professional goals are to help clients save valuable time for the things that matter most to them, focus on what is important, to relieve stress and chaos, and to realize their own capabilities in maintaining an organized and productive life.

Kelly can be reached via email at kelly@itssimplyplaced.com or by phone 206-579-5743 Ext. 703.

  • Introducing New Team Members – Tabitha Colie

Simply Placed has brought on three fabulous new team members to provide the very best service to our clients and the Simply Placed community.  We welcome you to learn a little bit more about each of them in the coming weeks, beginning with one of our two new Professional Organizers and Productivity Consultants, Tabitha Colie!

Tabitha Colie - Professional Organizer and Productivity Consultant

As a child, Tabitha spent hours organizing her Barbies, books, and board games, which led her to a lifelong passion for creating order and clearing clutter.  After subsequently spending her career organizing complex corporate marketing programs, she joined Simply Placed so that she could have a direct positive impact on others’ lives.

Tabitha loves the challenge of finding simple and creative solutions to seemingly overwhelming projects. Her primary goal is helping people “clear the decks” so that they can devote time and energy to their real life priorities and passions.

Tabitha holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and is a certified Holistic Health Counselor. In her spare time, she can be found hiking in the mountains with her husband and Labrador Retriever, and re-organizing her own closet.

Tabitha can be reached by email at tabitha@itssimplyplaced.com or by phone 206-579-5743 Ext. 705.

  • Let your SHOES walk your way to free organizing help!

You may have already read about our great partnership with Soles4Souls.  Well, we have decided to not only give to those in need of shoes, but also to give back to our great clients, and our SP community, by having a fun, summer contest, for all our shoe lovers out there.  Here’s the scoop:

During the month of August, 2011, Simply Placed will be collecting shoe donations for Soles4Souls.  (Read more about this worthy charity here).  We will be mailing your donations  to a US warehouse, which in turn re-distributes over 50% of the shoes to US residents in need, with the rest going overseas to shoe the poor in over a dozen countries.  Simply Placed will be collecting shoes, and $1 for each shoe, in order to cover the cost of mailing shoes to the warehouse.

Here’s the prize-winning part for you: For every shoe+dollar you donate to Simply Placed in the month of August, you will be entered into our contest to win a free 3 hour residentail organizing session (valued at $225).  DEclutter= Do Good = Feel Good!

    To take part:

For those of you with scheduled organizing time in August, simply give your shoes and dollars to your Simply Placed organizer, and we will enter you into the contest.   A pair of shoes plus $2 gets you two entries!

For anyone not scheduled in August, we are happy to arrange to collect your donation, or arrange to meet you with your contributions.  For those of you working with groups, either in school or office settings, we are happy to connect with you, and get you boxes to promote a drive yourself, which you can then give to us for tons of entries for YOU to win!

The drawing will take place at our staff meeting on September 2nd and the winner announced here on our blog and in the September newsletter (we’ll call you as well).

Looking forward to mountains of shoes for those in need. Please let us know if you have any questions and good luck to you!

    Sincerely,

    Your Shoe-Lovin’ Simply Placed Team

  • Real Estate Radio Guest Appearance

I was a guest on the Real Estate Radio show on KKNW 1150 AM here in the Seattle area last month. In case you missed the show, you can listen to a recording here. I spoke to show hosts Craig and Rob about various topics including home organization, time management, prioritization, the 80/20 principle, the best time to organize, and much more.

Let us know if you have any thoughts or comments about the show. We’d love to hear from you.

  • Soles for Souls

Some of you may have heard us discuss our involvement with NAPO.  Sound ominous? It simply stands for our professional organization: the National Association of Professional Organizers.  We have a conference once a year, and a couple of us just spent a few days in San Diego, soaking up information on organizing methods, new organization products, and tips and tricks to help us better serve our clients.

While there was more than enough information at the conference to make any Professional Organizer drool, we were most excited to learn about an organization which won NAPO’s Organizing Excellence in Community Service Award: Soles4Souls.

Soles4Souls has one simple mission: to collect shoes and get them to those who have none, both in the US, and around the world.  They began in 2004, just after the Southeast Asia tsunami.  Watching the devastation on television, the founder, Wayne Elsey, called friends and sponsors, seeking to collect shoes to send to the victims.  He began again, when Katrina hit the gulf coast.

They have since expanded efforts to include providing shoes to the poor in less dire circumstances, though they continue to focus on disaster relief: Japan’s tsunami victims and domestically the Southern states’ tornado victims are current recipients.

Simply Placed felt an instant connection with this organization, which has an overall goal to collect 11 million pairs of shoes in 2011.  We’d love to help them reach that number and you can help make this goal a reality.

Simply Placed is looking to collect new, gently used and even single shoes and shoes needing repair, to send to Souls4Souls.  If you, or anyone you know, would like to donate shoes -regardless of their condition- we encourage you to do so by contacting us at sharon@itssimplyplaced.com.  We’ll be accepting shoes during client appointments, by special arrangements and at particular events over the next few months.

In the immediate future, we are staging a large collection on Saturday, May 14th from 9:00AM-3:00PM at the All West Seattle Garage Sale. If you will be in the area and have shoes to contribute, please email sharon@itssimplyplaced.com for the specific drop off location for this event. If you’re not available that day, but wish to gather up shoes from friends, family, your work place or school, please let us know, and we will happily collect them from you to send them to the organization.

One note:  for those who can afford to do so, we are asking for a donation of $1 per shoe, to cover the cost of shipping to the Soles4Souls warehouse.

You can change the world -  one pair of shoes at a time, or, as Debbie says, “turn your clutter into contribution.” We look forward to hearing from you!

Here’s to helping others in need.

  • Spring into Organization Event

Would you like to meet some local companies (25+) that specialize in organizing products and services? Perhaps you have some burning clutter questions you’re dying to ask a local Professional Organizer?

You’re in luck! The Seattle NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) is hosting their second annual Spring Into Organization Fair and Ask the Organizer Panel this Saturday,  March 19, 2011 at the Bellevue Sheraton Hotel (100 112th Ave NE) from 9:00AM-1:00PM. This is a great opportunity to learn to simplify your home, business and life from local vendors and Professional Organizers (like Simply Placed!) working in your community.

Simply Placed will be there as a vendor and Debbie will even be one of the Professional Organizers on two of the three panels including “Paper Management” and “Ask the Organizer.” So if you would like tips/ideas on how to conquer your paper files or just find yourself saying, “If I could just get organized…” we’d love for you to attend! For a detailed descriptions of the panels click here.

Open to the public, event costs are $10 at the door or $8 if you prepay through www.seattlenapo.com. Did we mention a continental breakfast is included? Come hungry and full of questions! We hope to see you there. Make sure to find us and say “hello”.

    Warm regards,

    The Simply Placed Team
